Individual speech and language therapy
What does individual speech and language therapy involve?
Speech and language therapy consists of one-to-one sessions during which we support a child’s speech and communication development. We work on pronunciation, comprehension, constructing sentences and other areas that affect everyday communication.
The sessions are tailored to the child’s age, needs and abilities, and are often based on play and activities that engage the child.

Individual speech and language therapy
The aim of speech and language therapy:
Speech and language therapy is a process that requires the involvement of both the specialist and the child’s family. We achieve the best results when the work done in the therapy room is supported by everyday, natural situations at home.
The scope of therapy is always tailored to the child’s needs and may cover various areas relating to speech and communication.
Pronunciation and articulation
We are working on the correct pronunciation of sounds and on speaking clearly.
Language development
We support the development of speech comprehension, vocabulary building and the ability to produce age-appropriate speech.
Fluency of speech
We provide support for speech fluency difficulties, such as stammering.
Communication and social functioning
We develop the ability to express needs, engage in dialogue and build relationships.
Voice and speech-related functions
We focus on the correct use of the voice, breathing and other functions essential for speech development.
Developmental difficulties and co-occurring conditions
We provide therapy for children whose communication difficulties arise within a broader developmental context.
Each session is tailored to the individual child and adapted to their abilities, so as to support their development in a way that is both effective and child-friendly.
The Pick & Up Scheme
We’ll bring your child to and from nursery.
The carer takes them to their therapy session and brings them back, all within the nursery’s opening hours. This
means the therapy fits into a day that’s already planned,
so you don’t have to take time off work or organise your afternoon around travel arrangements.
You can trust us
We understand that discussions about a child’s speech development and communication difficulties require care, a calm approach and a great deal of sensitivity.
That is why, at the Dialog Centre for Children and Families, consultations are conducted by experienced speech and language therapists and neuro-speech therapists who work with children and young people. Our specialists possess the relevant qualifications and clinical experience, and join the team following a multi-stage recruitment process.
