We help you navigate the process of understanding your child’s developmental needs smoothly

At the Dialog Centre, we complement the public healthcare provision by offering parents and teachers a rapid diagnostic pathway and ensuring that the results are directly translated into day-to-day support for the child.

Reducing waiting times

We know that a prompt diagnosis enables appropriate measures to be taken at an earlier stage. We ensure prompt appointments so that help for your child is not delayed.

A team in a single centre

Our specialists work together. The exchange of expertise between a psychologist, a speech and language therapist and a sensory integration therapist throughout a single process enables us to build a comprehensive, multi-dimensional picture of the child.

Support with implementing the recommendations

We focus on the practical application of the assessment. We translate the results into specific guidance for home and school, helping to put changes into practice.

Early developmental assessment

We support developmental processes right from the earliest years of a child’s life. We make the most of the brain’s high level of plasticity in the first few years of life to ensure that the therapeutic effects are as long-lasting as possible.

One team, consistent standards, continuity of care, even after diagnosis.

The Dialog Centre for Children and Families is a team of specialists who work together, following a common diagnostic protocol, so that the family receives a single, coherent assessment of their child, rather than a collection of unrelated opinions from several different organisations.

Rapid diagnosis and intervention

Our extensive team of specialists enables us to offer a wide range of available appointment slots. This ensures that the assessment process runs smoothly, allowing the school to adapt the teaching programme to the pupil’s needs without undue delay.

An interdisciplinary team

Psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, speech and language therapists, neuro-speech therapists, sensory integration therapists, special needs teachers, family therapists and TUS coaches all work together to ensure the child receives the best possible diagnosis.

Standardised diagnostic protocol

Every psychological assessment follows the same procedure: a pre-assessment consultation, followed by a series of sessions and tests carried out using standardised instruments (ADOS-2, Stanford-Binet, Conners 3).

The full pathway following diagnosis

A diagnosis isn’t the end of the story! With us, families can continue to work with a psychiatrist, psychologist, speech and language therapist, sensory integration therapist or TUS coach.

Spaces designed with children in mind

Therapy rooms, a sensory integration room and a Snoezelen room, designed with children with a range of developmental and sensory needs in mind.

An award-winning experience

Drawing on the expertise of our specialists, we at the Dialog Therapy Centre have been helping families for 20 years.

Diagnosis and support tailored to the child’s current stage of development.

Each stage of a child’s life presents different signs and different diagnostic challenges. Below, we have compiled a list of diagnoses and the forms of therapeutic support available at the Dialog Centre for Children and Families, grouped by the child’s age.

Nursery

Early indicators and the greatest flexibility in shaping development

The nursery age is a time when early signs of difficulties are hard to spot, but crucial for diagnosis. These include speech delays, a lack of eye contact and feeding difficulties. Early observation offers the best chance of providing effective support for a toddler’s development.

Nursery school

The peer group as a reflection of visible difficulties

In nursery, many developmental differences only become apparent when children are compared with their peers. Difficulties with settling in, communication or managing emotions may indicate specific needs. It is also the ideal time to assess a child’s readiness for school before they start Year 1.

Primary school

Research reveals differences, whilst diagnosis explains their causes

New educational and social challenges are emerging at school. Difficulties with learning, concentration or peer relationships often have underlying causes. An accurate diagnosis of dyslexia, ADHD or autism spectrum disorder paves the way for appropriate adjustments at school and targeted therapy.

Secondary school

Adolescence brings new challenges and is often when a diagnosis is first made

The pressure of exams and increasing independence often bring to light difficulties that had previously gone unnoticed. A diagnosis during adolescence can confirm the family’s fears. A diagnosis of ADHD, autism spectrum disorder or dyslexia is a crucial step towards obtaining support and adjustments for the A-level exams.

Clear diagnostic criteria

All assessments carried out at the Dialog Centre for Children and Families are conducted in accordance with clearly defined diagnostic standards and procedures. The scope of the consultations, the tools used and the method of preparing the report are tailored to the type of assessment being carried out and the professional standards we have adopted.

If a parent or carer wishes to modify the standard diagnostic process or make changes to the document issued following the diagnosis, this must be agreed in advance with the diagnostician. Any actions going beyond the standard scope of the service require the booking of further consultations and are subject to an additional charge in accordance with the current price list.
