Speech and
Language Therapy Assessment in Warsaw

3 diagnostic appointments + pre-diagnostic consultation 600 zł
Step 1: This is where we start

Pre-diagnostic consultation

about 50 minutes

During the consultation, the specialist will listen to the concerns raised by the parents, discuss the child’s development to date and make a preliminary assessment of the areas requiring a more detailed assessment. Following the consultation, you will jointly agree on the scope of further assessment and the next steps. The pre-diagnostic consultation is charged separately and is not included in the price of the assessment package.

1
VISIT

A detailed interview with the parents

A conversation without the child present

The aim of the meeting is to gather information about the child’s development, their communication skills, how they cope in different situations, and any difficulties that may be affecting their speech development. The conversation is primarily between the parents, so that the child does not feel uncomfortable hearing a discussion about their difficulties.

2
VISIT

Speech and language therapy observation and assessment

Tools suited to the child’s age

The specialist assesses the child’s communication skills, their behaviour during interactions, their pronunciation, comprehension and ability to form sentences, as well as their oral functions. They use appropriate diagnostic tools and age-appropriate tasks. If necessary, the assessment may be supplemented by standardised tests or consultations with other specialists on the team.

3
Visit

Discussion of the diagnostic findings

Written speech and language therapy assessment

The specialist sets out their conclusions and recommendations for the next steps: speech and language therapy, further consultations or other forms of support. You will receive a written report with recommendations for work at the clinic and at home, as well as clear guidance on what to do next.

Babies and young children

Delayed speech development

The child speaks very little, not at all, or starts speaking significantly later than their peers, and their communication differs from what is typical for their age.

Babies and young children

Feeding and swallowing

Difficulties with feeding or swallowing, as well as congenital conditions, such as a cleft palate, requiring the support of a speech and language therapist.

Pre-school and school age

Speech disorders (dyslalia)

Incorrect pronunciation of sounds and phonological speech disorders that make it difficult to speak clearly.

Children and young people

Language and communication

Language difficulties that affect comprehension or the ability to formulate statements, and, in the case of teenagers, the ability to express their thoughts and communicate freely.

Children and young people

Fluency of speech

Speech fluency disorders, such as stammering, in both pre-school and school-age children, as well as those persisting into adolescence.

Young people

Voice

Voice disorders, such as those associated with voice change or voice strain, which affect the ease of speaking in everyday life.

Written speech and language therapy assessment

A description of the assessment carried out, the conclusions drawn from the diagnosis and a description of the child’s difficulties — in clear, easy-to-understand language.

Support in collaboration with schools and nurseries

Advice to assist with the preparation of documents such as the WOPFU, WWR and IPET, and in working with educational institutions.

Recommendations for the surgery and for home

Specific guidance for therapeutic work, as well as for everyday exercises and situations at home.

Recommendations for next steps

Proposals for speech and language therapy or — where necessary — recommendations for consultation with other specialists in the team.

Individual speech and language therapy

Regular sessions tailored to the findings of the assessment — from speech impediments to developing communication skills from scratch.

Speech and language therapy

Support for complex neurological difficulties and early speech and language therapy for very young children.

Myofunctional therapy

Work on primary functions: breathing, swallowing and the resting position of the tongue, including as a support for orthodontic treatment.

ENMOT Electrical Stimulation

Speech and language therapy using electrical stimulation of the facial area as a complement to traditional treatment methods.

Sensory integration therapy

When speech difficulties co-occur with sensory challenges — diagnosis and SI therapy at the same centre.

Support from a team of specialists

A psychologist, educationalist, psychiatrist and paediatric neurologist — when a speech and language therapy assessment indicates the need for a broader perspective.

An individualised approach to diagnosis

Each diagnosis is tailored to the needs of the individual child. We combine interviews with parents, observation and modern diagnostic tools to gain the best possible understanding of the child’s communication style.

A multidisciplinary team

A speech and language therapy assessment often requires a broader perspective — psychological, educational or sensory. At Dialog, specialists from various fields work together under one roof.

Comprehensive assessment and support plan

A diagnosis is the first step towards working on speech and communication. Once it is complete, you will receive a summary and guidance on further therapy, which will make it easier to plan the next steps.

Experienced speech and language therapists and neuro-speech therapists

Diagnoses are carried out by qualified specialists who work in accordance with current knowledge and ethical standards — whilst ensuring an atmosphere of safety, empathy and trust.

The first step is a pre-diagnostic consultation (250 zł, approx. 50 minutes). During the appointment, the speech and language therapist or neuro-speech therapist will discuss the difficulties reported by the parents, review the child’s development to date and make a preliminary assessment of the areas requiring a more detailed diagnosis. Only after the consultation will you decide together whether a full speech and language assessment is necessary.
The speech and language therapy assessment package costs 560 zł and includes three assessment appointments: a detailed consultation with the parents, an observation session with a speech and language therapy assessment, and a discussion of the results. The whole process is preceded by a pre-diagnostic consultation costing 250 zł, payable separately — this is where we start.
We assess children and young people of all ages — from infants to teenagers. Our team includes, amongst others, a clinical speech and language therapist specialising in early speech and language intervention and feeding and swallowing disorders, who works with children from the very first days of their lives. The scope and format of the assessment are always tailored to the child’s age and abilities.
No. The in-depth assessment is primarily attended by the parents or carers — without the child present — to avoid a situation where the child might feel uncomfortable hearing a discussion about their difficulties. The child takes part in a session involving observation and a speech and language therapy assessment, conducted in a manner appropriate to their age.
No referral is required — simply book an appointment by telephone or via the patient portal. For your first appointment, it is a good idea to bring your child’s medical records to date if they are being treated by other specialists (e.g. a psychologist, paediatrician, neurologist or therapist). This helps us to better understand your child’s situation and plan further support.
Once the diagnostic process is complete, parents receive a written speech and language therapy report containing a description of the assessment carried out, the conclusions of the diagnosis, a description of the child’s difficulties, and recommendations for therapeutic work both at the clinic and at home. This report may be helpful when liaising with educational institutions, for example, when preparing documents such as the WOPFU, WWR or IPET.
Speech and communication difficulties often require a broader view of a child’s development — including from psychological, educational and sensory integration perspectives. At the Dialog Centre for Children and Families, you have on-site access to a psychologist, an educationalist, a psychiatrist, a neurologist and a sensory integration therapist, and these specialists work together to provide your child with comprehensive support in one place.
We carry out speech and language therapy assessments at the Dialog Centre for Children and Families in Mokotów, at 3c Cybernetyki Street in Warsaw (formerly Senso Senso). You can book an appointment by telephone on 22 417 44 92 or online via the patient portal.
